After the administrative boundary merger, Van Chan commune has 13 products related to Shan Tuyet tea out of 22 OCOP products of the commune, affirming the position of tea trees, especially Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea in the development of local agricultural economy. Preserving the established Shan Tuyet tea brand and continuing to promote it in the new context is what Van Chan strives to do.

Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet Tea in Suoi Giang Commune, Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province, now part of Van Chan Commune, Lao Cai Province, has become a brand on the Vietnamese tea map. Here, ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees hundreds of years old, condensing the natural quintessence of fresh land and sky, at an altitude of nearly 1,400 m above sea level, produce cups of tea with a special flavor.

Previously, tea was mainly sold raw to traders, the economic value was not high, now thanks to the OCOP program, along with the participation of cooperatives and businesses, Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea products are increasingly affirming their position and brand.

Among the pioneering units, Suoi Giang Tea Cooperative is considered a bright spot on the journey of building the Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea brand.

Many years ago, realizing the valuable potential of the ancient Shan Tuyet tea growing area, Suoi Giang Tea Cooperative was established, boldly investing in technological innovation, combining the preservation of traditional processing methods with the application of modern production lines to create the product Tuyet Son Tra.

Therefore, we maintain the raw materials are harvested completely by hand, following the "one bud two leaves" process, ensuring to preserve the full strong and bitter taste, mild sweetness and pure aroma. Tea production combines modern machinery with the experience and feeling of tea from the tea maker.

The entire production process strictly adheres to VietGAP and organic standards, from care, harvesting to processing. The product packaging is luxuriously designed, with QR code traceability, enhancing the image of Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea.

In 2019, Tuyet Son Tra product of Suoi Giang Cooperative was recognized as meeting 4-star OCOP standards, becoming the first OCOP product of the old Yen Bai province at that time. Up to now, Suoi Giang Cooperative still maintains its contribution to the majority of Suoi Giang tea output exported to the market every year.

Currently, in addition to Suoi Giang Cooperative, in the area there are many cooperatives and enterprises that have invested systematically to transform tea, making Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea products not only a drink but also a cultural - tourist gift, affirming the Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea brand.

After the administrative boundary merger, Van Chan commune has 22 OCOP products, of which 13 are related to Shan Tuyet tea with 10 products achieving 4 stars and 3 products achieving 3 stars, showing the position of tea trees in the commune. In order for tea trees to continue to play a key role, Van Chan commune has proposed many strategic directions; setting a goal of having 12 Shan Tuyet tea products achieving OCOP from 4 to 5 stars by 2030.

Van Chan continues to protect and preserve precious ancient tea trees.

Along with that, the application of science and technology is also focused. People are trained in standard harvesting techniques, limiting the use of chemicals; cooperatives are encouraged to invest in drying, rolling, and fermentation lines combined with traditional technology, to improve quality and diversify products. At the same time, the commune builds a set of common quality criteria for the commune's Shan Tuyet Tea, supporting businesses to register collective trademarks, geographical indications, and organic certification.

Regarding consumption, the commune continues to promote sales support through e-commerce platforms such as Postmart, Voso, Shopee, Lazada; linking with supermarket chains and specialty stores; especially perfecting the brand identity of "Van Chan Shan Tuyet Tea"; participating in OCOP fairs and trade promotion...

In particular, Van Chan is interested in supporting cooperatives and production households, from training in online sales skills, digital marketing, to linking to expand scale and improve competitiveness.
