During the day and night of October 1, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40mm, and some places experiencing over 80mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>80mm/3 hours).

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and inundation in low-lying areas.
In the past 24 hours (from 4am on September 30 to 4am on October 1), the Northern provinces, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have had heavy rain, some places have had very heavy rain. The soil moisture model shows that some areas in the above provinces are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state.
In the next 3-6 hours, the above provinces will continue to have rain with common accumulated rainfall as follows: Son La, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa from 30-60mm, some places over 100mm; Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Ninh and Nghe An from 10-30mm, some places over 60mm.
In the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in many communes/wards due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence caused by heavy rain or water flow: Level 1; Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Cao Bang level 2; Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang level 3.
Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.
