Removing obstacles in construction materials for the North-South Expressway

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Viet Hung and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dao My chaired the meeting.

According to the report at the working session, up to now, the work of handing over the site for the construction of local component projects has reached 100%, and at the same time, completing the handover of the site for the rest stop at Km 41+500, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh section (Xuan Tho commune) to Project Management Board 85.

Regarding the source of materials for the project, the province has provided 6 soil mines, 5 sand mines, 6 registered areas for soil and stone exploitation on the route and local commercial stone mines with a volume of about 12.4 million m³ of soil, 2.5 million m³ of stone, 2.6 million m³ of sand. The work of converting the purpose of forest use and reforesting with an area of 111.59 hectares has been completed, of which the additional area is nearly 90 hectares.

The cumulative disbursement of site clearance and resettlement work reached 1,665/1,925 billion VND (87%). The construction output of component projects to date has reached 13,419/15,883 billion VND, equal to 84.27% of the contract value. The Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh component project alone reached 6,039/7,354 billion VND (82%), expected to be completed in November. The Chi Thanh - Van Phong component project reached 7,380/8,529 billion VND (86.53%), expected to be completed in December according to the direction of the Prime Minister .

Mr. Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Director in charge of Project Management Board 85, pointed out some difficulties in the project implementation process.

At the meeting, representatives of Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Construction) pointed out some difficulties in the implementation of the project, especially the lack of construction materials. Currently, the demand for soil and rock for construction far exceeds the local supply capacity, while the procedures for exploiting new mines and transporting them from neighboring localities are still slow.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, reported on the implementation of procedures on construction material mines.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Viet Hung acknowledged and highly appreciated the determination of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee in site clearance and material preparation. Completing the component projects of the North-South Expressway is an important task of special significance to the country. The locality, Project Management Board 85 and the contractor need to continue to review and utilize local materials, and coordinate closely to ensure construction progress and complete the project on schedule.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment focused on urging Thanh An Construction Company Limited to increase its mining capacity, Project Management Board 85 coordinated with Phu Yen Road Management and Repair Joint Stock Company to agree on a roadmap to complete mining procedures for the expanded quarry in Tuy An Nam to ensure adequate supply of materials for the project; contributing to completing the project on schedule.
