Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has proposed the Ministry of Construction to consider approving and providing additional guidance on the scale of urban master planning to be 680,000 hectares, to comply with legal planning, administrative unit arrangement and practical conditions.

Pursuant to the amended Law on Urban and Rural Planning, the Department of Construction recommends considering an expanded framework of norms for special urban areas, along with coefficients for adjusting cost norms and multi-sectoral, multi-level integrated planning.

Since July 1 this year, Ho Chi Minh City has been a special urban area after merging Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces . The economic scale after the merger reached more than 2.7 million billion VND - accounting for nearly 1/4 of the country's GDP last year.

In the future, this super city will also be directly connected to Long Thanh International Airport, through the expressway and urban railway system.
