Ha Giang overcomes difficulties to enter the new school year

This school year, the education sector of Ha Giang province continues to face many difficulties in terms of facilities and teacher shortage.

Therefore, before the new school year, Ha Giang province has implemented many solutions to ensure teaching and learning according to the 2018 general education program, gradually achieving the goal of improving the quality of education.

Accordingly, by June 2024, the rate of solidification of schools and classrooms in Ha Giang province will only reach more than 66%; the rate of semi-solid classrooms will be more than 31%; and the rate of temporary classrooms will be more than 2%.

In many highland schools, there is a lack of classrooms, functional rooms, student accommodation, clean water systems, and sanitation facilities. In addition, in some schools, the buildings were built a long time ago and are in a state of disrepair and need to be renovated, repaired, and replaced.

To overcome the above situation, the education sector has coordinated with the authorities of districts and cities to conduct a review to mobilize resources, invest in repairing and building new facilities for schools. Accordingly, since the beginning of the year, localities have allocated about 60 billion VND to invest in repairing and building new schools and classrooms. Therefore, entering the new school year, schools have basically met the needs of teaching, learning and living.

Regarding the staff and teachers, through review, in the 2024-2025 school year, Ha Giang province lacks about 2,900 staff and teachers according to the norm; lacks 1,039 staff and teachers according to the assigned payroll.

Among them, the biggest shortage is teachers of specialized subjects such as foreign languages, fine arts, information technology, and physical education.

Faced with that situation, the education sector has reviewed the shortage of teachers at all levels and in specialized subjects to find solutions.

Specifically, districts and cities have developed plans to recruit nearly 700 teachers and have been approved by the province.

In addition, the education sector also conducted a review to implement temporary solutions such as increasing secondment, transferring teachers from areas with little shortage to areas with a lot of shortage; assigning teachers to teach extra hours, one teacher teaching at many schools to meet the quota; and teacher contracts.

For English subjects, localities such as Meo Vac, Bac Me, and Hoang Su Phi continue to implement online teaching combined with face-to-face teaching through the online teaching support of English teachers from Lam Dong province and Hanoi capital.
