Hanoi approves project to revive four rivers: To Lich, Kim Nguu, Lu, and Set.

Hanoi approved a project including a list of 32 programs and projects for the 2025 - 2030 period to restore environmental quality and develop the system of four heavily polluted inner-city rivers: To Lich, Kim Nguu, Lu, and Set.

On July 22, the City People's Committee issued Decision No. 3865 approving the project "Restoring environmental quality and developing the system of four inner-city rivers: To Lich, Kim Nguu, Lu, and Set".

According to the decision, Hanoi approved a project including a list of 32 programs and projects for the 2025 - 2030 period focusing on implementing contents such as pollution control and prevention; building an ecologically balanced inner-city river system.

At the same time, the city will design, plan, renovate architectural landscapes and enhance capacity and raise people's awareness of environmental protection.

Currently, the city has specific projects such as Yen Xa wastewater treatment project, wastewater collection system construction project (S1 basin) to Yen So wastewater treatment plant, to restore water quality of the above rivers.

Hanoi also researched and proposed solutions to supplement water for Kim Nguu, Lu, and Set rivers and a master project to invest in construction to supplement water, renovate, and embellish To Lich river.

The City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to organize the implementation of the project; urge, synthesize and report the implementation results annually.

Funding is provided from the city, ward and commune budgets and other legally mobilized sources.

To Lich River will reduce pollution level by 50% by the end of this year

Previously, at the Hanoi People's Council meeting in early July 2025, Mr. Truong Viet Dung - Chief of Office of Hanoi People's Committee - said that the current program to renovate To Lich, Lu and Set rivers has reduced the pollution level by 20% compared to the same period.

In the coming time, according to Mr. Dung, the city will focus on handling dust, wastewater, and garbage pollution, gradually creating a clean and livable environment in the capital, including putting into operation the Yen Xa wastewater treatment plant in the third quarter, speeding up the progress of the Viet Hung and Nam An Khanh wastewater treatment projects.

Hanoi will focus on implementing the program to improve To Lich, Lu and Set rivers, reducing pollution levels by 50% by the end of 2025.
