On September 30, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized a workshop on “Education Management Seminar between Hanoi and South Australia”. Attending the workshop were representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training , Hanoi People's Committee, the Board of Directors of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, departments under the Department, principals of high schools; representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training of South Australia, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, and leaders of schools in South Australia.
In his welcome speech, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that Hanoi is honored to have a close cooperative relationship with the South Australian Education sector for nearly two decades, starting from meaningful professional seminars in 2007. This is one of the successful examples, continuously cultivated and bringing many impressive results, creating a solid foundation for more extensive cooperation activities today.

Regarding the education situation in the capital, Mr. Tran The Cuong shared that with a history of more than 70 years of formation and development, the capital's education and training sector has affirmed its role and stature and is proud to be the largest educational center in the country, with nearly 3,000 schools and more than 2.3 million students.
In addition, the city has 29 vocational education and continuing education centers, 352 vocational education establishments. This diversity shows that Hanoi not only focuses on general education but also strongly develops vocational education, meeting the human resource needs of many different fields and professions.
Hanoi students have continuously affirmed their leading position in domestic and international intellectual arenas, with hundreds of national awards and medals. In the 2024-2025 school year alone, Hanoi students won 200 awards at the national excellent student competition, 14 medals and international awards...


In particular, Hanoi is honored to be chosen as the host of the 19th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in 2026. This is a testament to the prestige and capacity of the Capital to organize international educational events.
“We do not see this as a destination, but as an important provision to confidently integrate and promote international cooperation in a deep and substantial way. We believe that the capital's education will continue to promote its pioneering role, affirm its position as a center of innovation, actively contribute to the overall development of Vietnam's education and strengthen friendly cooperative relations with international friends,” Mr. Tran The Cuong shared.


Ms. Narelle Slivak - Director of International Education Department of South Australia Department of Education shared that the seminar is a testament to the determination of the education sector of Hanoi and South Australia in strengthening connections, promoting academic exchanges and developing high-quality human resources. This is a promising new beginning for sustainable development in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
At the seminar, managers and representatives of schools from both sides shared and discussed educational policies and strategic orientations in the new context, especially the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in schools, smart device management and the development of digital skills and soft skills for students.

The two sides also discussed pedagogical experiences, explored similarities and differences between Vietnam and South Australia, and drew valuable lessons to improve the quality of teaching and learning. The two sides also spent time exchanging and sharing cooperation opportunities, opening up new connections between schools in the two cities.
Since 2007, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and the South Australian Department of Education have had many cooperative activities, including signing a memorandum of understanding; developing teacher training and development programs; exchanging teaching methods; and sharing experiences in testing and evaluating students.
