Ha Tinh calls on ships to take shelter in safe places before storm No. 11

(Baohatinh.vn) - Before the complicated developments of storm No. 11 (storm Matmo), Ha Tinh informed vessels at sea to stay informed and proactively take shelter from the storm.

To proactively respond to storm No. 11 (storm Matmo), the Ha Tinh Border Guard Command has directed units to regularly monitor and grasp the storm's developments, strictly maintain on-duty regimes, and prepare forces and means to participate in handling situations when they arise.

The Border Guard forces coordinated with localities to inform families of ship owners and captains about the storm's developments and dangerous weather at sea to have a plan for safe production, and at the same time directed watchtowers to notify vehicles operating at sea and request them to move away from the path of storm No. 11.

In Ha Tinh, there are currently 3,982 vehicles/10,992 workers, the number of ships anchored at ports and yards (not going to sea) is 3,958 vehicles/10,914 workers.

Regarding the means of transport operating at sea, in the sea area of ​​Bach Long Vi Island there are 4 means of transport/19 workers; in the offshore area of ​​Ha Tinh there are 4 means of transport/22 workers and in the coastal area of ​​Ha Tinh there are 16 means of transport/37 workers.

By 3:00 p.m. on October 5, authorities had contacted 21 vehicles/64 workers operating at sea to inform them of the direction of storm No. 11, thereby finding safe shelter.

However, there are still 3 vehicles/14 workers that cannot be contacted. The Provincial Border Guard Command is still actively coordinating with the locality and family to inform the ship owner and crew about storm No. 11.

Due to the influence of storm No. 11, from the night of October 5, the sea area of ​​Ha Tinh has strong winds and 2-3 meter high waves, posing a risk to ships operating at sea.

Regarding storm No. 11, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said: The unit has also issued documents to coastal units and localities to proactively respond to strong winds and big waves in the sea of ​​Ha Tinh.

Due to the influence of the storm, the sea area of ​​Ha Tinh, on the night of October 5, is forecasted to have winds gradually increasing to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9; rough seas; wave height 2-3 m.

On the night of October 5, the sea area of ​​Ha Tinh will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7 and waves over 2 meters high. All vessels operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and big waves. Warning level of natural disaster risk at sea: level 2.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment requests units and localities to closely monitor disaster warning and forecast bulletins; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and adjust production plans, ensure safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur. Prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when situations arise.

Strengthen information dissemination on strong winds, storms, whirlwinds at sea and response measures on mass media so that people and owners of vehicles operating at sea know and proactively prevent and respond.
