Hamas said in a statement on October 3 that it had sent its response to President Trump’s Gaza peace proposal to regional and international mediators, agreeing in principle to release all Israeli hostages.
The force also agreed to transfer control of Gaza to an independent Palestinian technocratic group, formed through national consensus and supported by Arab and Muslim countries.
"Based on the statement just made by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace," Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social on October 3, adding that Israel must immediately stop bombing Gaza.

"We are discussing the details that need to be clarified. This is not just about Gaza, but also about the long-awaited peace in the Middle East," Mr. Trump emphasized.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomes Hamas's announcement of its readiness to release hostages and enter into negotiations based on a proposal by President Trump, his spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on October 3.
The UN Secretary-General called on all parties to seize the opportunity to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, and thanked Qatar and Egypt for their mediation efforts.
Mr Dujarric added that the Secretary-General reiterated his call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, and unhindered humanitarian access. "The United Nations will support all efforts towards these goals to prevent further suffering," he said.
Meanwhile, Israel said it was ready to swap prisoners with Hamas under Trump's Gaza peace plan, hours after Hamas accepted some points of the US proposal.
