This is the first visit to the Netherlands by a South Korean president since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1961.

President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Amsterdam on December 11 to attend a meeting with Korean expatriates in the Netherlands. On December 12, he attended an official welcoming ceremony, a luncheon with the King of the Netherlands, a state dinner, and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Veterans Memorial.

On the same afternoon, Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol, along with the King of the Netherlands, Chairman of Samsung Electronics Group Lee Jae-yong and Chairman of SK Group Chey Jae-won will visit ASML - the only company in the world that produces extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines.

On December 13, the South Korean leader will visit The Hague and hold meetings with the two Presidents of the Dutch Senate and House of Representatives, followed by a private meeting with Prime Minister Mark Rutte, a joint press conference and a signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

In addition, the South Korean President will visit the Ridderzaal building, where the Second World Peace Conference was held in 1907, and the Yi Jun Peace Museum, which commemorates martyr Yi Jun (1859-1907), who was sent to The Hague as the South Korean special envoy for the conference.

On the same day, Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol will return to the capital Amsterdam to attend a dialogue with Korean War (1950-1953) veterans and a business forum, as well as participate in a traditional Korean cultural performance organized by the Netherlands. After completing all schedules, the President of the Republic of Korea will return to his country on December 14.

According to South Korean Deputy National Security Adviser Kim Tae-hyo, the visit has two main goals: establishing an alliance on semiconductors and deepening the strategic partnership.

The cooperation between the two sides will contribute to ensuring the global supply chain, meeting the expectation of establishing a “Korea-Netherlands semiconductor chip alliance” with the participation of governments, businesses and universities of both countries.
