A long-standing native variety, Khoai Den sticky rice has large, long flowers and delicious rice quality. This is a long-term rice variety, preferring low-lying, water-rich fields, and can withstand flooding for 1-2 days. When ripe, the rice hull turns dry areca nut color, slightly black, and when milled, the rice grains are round, opaque white, used for steaming sticky rice, wrapping banh chung... Perhaps the soil, climate, altitude, and mountain winds have contributed to the delicious, sweet, soft, sticky taste and characteristic aroma of the rice grains.

Previously, people did not sow and plant in a concentrated manner, so when it was time to harvest, the tall plants were easily knocked down by storms and rains. In addition, the rice variety ripened later than other rice varieties, so it was susceptible to pests and diseases, and the yield was not high. In 2021, implementing Project 939 on "Supporting women to start a business in the period 2017-2025", the Women's Union of Hung Xuyen commune built a model for women to start a business from the local precious glutinous rice variety, supporting all the rice seeds to plant nearly one hectare of Khoai Den sticky rice in Doan Ket and Vinh Lai areas, resulting in high yield and good quality rice. Currently, Khoai Den sticky rice on the market is priced at 45,000 VND/kg.

In order to increase the value and income for people, in the 2023 crop, the District Women's Union coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the district and Hung Xuyen commune to expand the planting area of ​​Khoai Den sticky rice in Doan Ket, Vinh Lai, Thuong Khe, Dong Duong and Tan Lap areas with a total planting area of ​​12 hectares. Mr. Nguyen Hai Do - Director of Hung Xuyen Grapefruit and General Services Cooperative (HTX) said: "This rice variety grows well, tolerates intensive cultivation, the plant is 1.5 - 1.7m high, has average tillering ability, flowers in short-day light conditions, has good resistance to pests and diseases, a growing period of 140 days, and a yield of 1.3 - 1.5 quintals/sao. To produce standard sticky rice products, the production process includes the main stages of selecting varieties, caring for and packaging the product, in which the most important step is selecting rice varieties. The varieties are selected right in the field, choosing neat rice flowers with even grains...".

Identifying OCOP as a program to develop the rural economy in the direction of developing internal resources and increasing value, as a solution and task in implementing the National Target Program on new rural construction, in the coming time, Buoi Cooperative and Hung Xuyen General Services will expand the area of ​​Khoai Den sticky rice to 20 hectares. Along with that, continue to guide farmers to properly implement the process of caring for rice areas according to standards, striving to upgrade the OCOP level for products. Proactively introduce, promote and expand the consumption market on e-commerce platforms and social networks.
