Coach Amorim: 'I don't change my philosophy, if you want to change people'

"I will not change my philosophy" - that was the affirmation of coach Ruben Amorim after Man United's loss to Man City with a score of 0-3, on the evening of September 14, in round 4 of the English Premier League.

Coach Ruben Amorim stuck to his philosophy after the humiliating defeat to Man City. Despite his team's poor form, he said he would not change his 3-4-3 formation.

After the Manchester derby, coach Amorim affirmed: "I will not change my philosophy."

He believes that if change is needed, it must be people, not philosophy. "I will play my way until I want to change. I understand frustration and I accept criticism," he said.

Next, when asked about the feelings of the fans who left early, coach Amorim shared: "My message is that I will do everything, always thinking about what is best for the club. As long as I am here, I will do my best."

In addition, the Portuguese coach also confided: "I am suffering more than the fans."

In the match, Man United controlled the ball up to 55% but played stalemate. They let Man City take a 3-goal lead from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland's double. Despite having chances at the end of the match, the "Red Devils" still could not score a goal to shorten the score of the match.

Statistics show that coach Amorim is going through his worst time at Old Trafford. Since he replaced Erik ten Hag, Man United have only won 31 points after 31 matches, the lowest achievement among the teams continuously playing in the Premier League at the same period.

Amorim's win rate is also alarming, at just 26% (8 wins/31 games), the worst since World War II. Only Alfred Albut (20%) and Scott Duncan (24%) have lower win rates than him.

Man United's attack is also facing serious problems, failing to score in 13 of 31 matches and scoring only 36 goals. In addition, the team has only won 4/26 Premier League matches against non-rookie opponents. Away from home, the "Red Devils" have only won 1/20 recent matches when facing the Big Six and conceded 53 goals.

In the next match, Man United will return to Old Trafford to welcome Chelsea. This is predicted to be a difficult and stressful match for coach Amorim's team.
