ITE HCMC 2025: an important boost, a solid foundation for tourism to break through

The organization of the 19th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair in 2025 - ITE HCMC 2025 has been effectively implemented, with many favorable conditions when receiving the attention and close direction of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) and the close coordination between Central agencies, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and related units, ensuring progress, safety and overall quality.

For the first time, four large-scale international events were held simultaneously in Ho Chi Minh City: ITE HCMC 2025; the 12th General Assembly of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO); the 3rd "Connecting the International Supply Chain - Vietnam International Sourcing" event; and the Ho Chi Minh City Export Forum 2025. The integration of the four events has created a vibrant "International Economic - Tourism Week", strongly promoting MICE tourism, while closely linking tourism with trade, logistics and export. This is a clear demonstration of the effective coordination between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, affirming the position of the City as a center for organizing large-scale international events, enhancing the image of Vietnam in the international arena.

The scale of the event was expanded, attracting a large number of local and domestic enterprises to participate, thereby continuing to affirm the reputation and brand of ITE HCMC as a leading international tourism fair in Vietnam and the region.

The logistics and reception of delegates and guests were carefully implemented, leaving a good impression on leaders, international partners and visitors. Delegates attending the series of events within the framework of ITE HCMC 2025 Fair gave positive feedback on the organization of the programs.

The scale and quality of the fair continued to improve with 418 exhibitors, 256 international buyers (up 16.5% compared to 2024), 17 high-level international delegations and more than 46,100 visitors (up 77.3%). These figures show the growing attraction and prestige of the event.

Professional seminars and forums are organized in a diverse and practical manner, bringing together many domestic and foreign leaders and experts, creating a space for information exchange, experience sharing and updating tourism development trends.

Communication work achieved impressive results, with more than 3,900 news, articles and images in domestic and foreign press (up 44.4% compared to 2024), including nearly 650 international news articles on reputable channels; at the same time reaching more than 3.1 million views on digital platforms (up 158.3%).

Thanks to the stimulus activities of the tourism and industry sectors, along with the vibrant cultural activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2 (from August 30 to September 2, 2025), Ho Chi Minh City attracted about 1,450,000 visitors to visit tourist and entertainment areas; International visitors to Ho Chi Minh City were about 45,600; Guests staying were about 300,000; Room occupancy rate was estimated at about 87%.

Tourism revenue is estimated at VND4,140 billion. Together with the spillover effect from ITE HCMC 2025 and 3 large-scale international events taking place from September 3-6, it has created an important boost, a solid foundation for the city's tourism industry to make a breakthrough in the final period of the year, while opening up prospects for a breakthrough in 2026.

Through its organization, the Fair has created many opportunities for trade connections, contract signing and cooperation between domestic tourism enterprises and international partners, thereby promoting the development of tourist markets and tourism products. The participation of a large number of international buyers, specialized press and large corporations has contributed to increasing commercial value and promoting Vietnam as a destination in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

The event contributed to stimulating on-site spending for accommodation, food, transportation, shopping services, etc., creating a positive spillover effect for the city's economy. The fair recorded more than 20,000 business appointments (B2B), of which nearly 50% were successfully signed, directly contributing to promoting cooperation between Vietnamese and international enterprises. Many cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding between domestic and foreign associations and enterprises were implemented, opening up opportunities for tourism, investment and trade development.

The event contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of promoting and advertising the image of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam, while affirming the role of the tourism industry in socio-economic development and international integration.

The Department of Tourism also said that, in addition to the achieved results, there are still some limitations such as the program has overlapping time, affecting the effectiveness of delegates' participation; the exhibition space has not created many unique highlights, needs more innovation to improve the visitor experience, the experience and exchange activities for the public are not rich, not fully exploiting the attraction potential of the event...

ITE HCMC 2026: Promoting the application of digital technology

The Department of Tourism said that ITE HCMC 2026 will continue to expand its scale, improve the quality of its organization; professionalize the entire process from inviting delegations, implementing trade to communication. Diversify the international tourist market, focus on key and potential markets, increase the number of international buyers and press.

Innovate the content and format of seminars and forums, associated with new trends: green tourism, smart tourism, digital transformation. Enhance experiential activities, introduce typical tourism products of localities, creating a distinctive highlight for visitors. Promote the application of digital technology (AI, VR/AR, digital maps...) in product introduction and event organization, contributing to improving the experience and promotion effectiveness.

The Department also recommended that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee soon approve the policy of implementing the 20th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair in 2026, consider assigning Saigon Tourist Corporation - One Member Co., Ltd. to continue to preside over and coordinate with SECC to arrange a fixed time to organize the ITE HCMC Fair (the second week of September every year), avoiding the National Day holiday on September 2 to reduce logistical pressure, service costs and risks of delays. Approve the master plan for organizing the ITE HCMC Fair 2026 before May 2026 so that relevant departments, branches and units have a basis to proactively implement the tasks.

The City People's Committee directed relevant departments and branches to closely coordinate and synchronously prepare organizational stages (booths, communications, logistics, reception) to ensure effective connection and trade while improving the quality of experience for visitors to the Fair...

At the same time, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recommends that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism continue to coordinate with relevant agencies at home and abroad to mobilize international tourism corporations and businesses to participate in the ITE HCMC Fair 2026 as well as in the following years. Support the promotion of ITE HCMC 2026 at tourism promotion activities abroad organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Orientate early the content of forums and seminars on tourism and coordinate closely to avoid passivity and overlap, ensuring practicality and depth. Coordinate with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to have an invitation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to invite leaders of the Ministry in charge of tourism of countries and major tourism businesses in the world to attend the Fair.
