Same electricity bill is a coincidence, not due to meter

(Dan Tri) - The electricity unit said it had checked the feedback of many households with identical electricity bills and confirmed that the meters were operating correctly, the coincidence was just a coincidence.

Regarding the complaints of many households whose electricity bills skyrocketed in August or many similar months, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) said it has directed its units to coordinate with the government, police and functional agencies to inspect and verify.

Previously in Quang Ninh , Ms. Dao Bich Lan (Mao Khe ward) reported that her electricity bill for 3 consecutive months was the same. After the electricity unit checked the meter and compared EVNHES's detailed daily remote measurement data, it was determined that the meter was operating normally and the index was accurate.

"As a result, the comparison of the data between the measuring device (Ampere) and the data displayed on the meter at the same time is equal. Therefore, the metering system is operating normally," the working minutes clearly stated.

The electricity authority confirmed that the household’s electricity output for the past 3 months was at 670kWh, which was just a coincidence. After checking and comparing the measurement results, the people understood, signed the working minutes and voluntarily removed the post on social media.

Similarly, in Phu Tho , the electricity unit said that on social networks, images of two identical electricity bills of two households in Hung Viet commune appeared. The Cam Khe Regional Electricity Management Team coordinated an inspection, the results showed that the meter index and serial number were completely different, the duplicate output was just a coincidence.

In addition, recently, many households in the North and Central regions have reported unusually high bills while the weather is not too hot, even with storms and power outages. EVNNPC said that when receiving complaints, the unit checks, verifies and provides transparent information.

For example, in Nghe An , a customer in Hung Nguyen commune complained that the electricity bill had increased 10 times. An inspection showed that this was a restaurant that used a lot of air conditioners, the wires behind the meter were short-circuited, the actual bill only increased 40%. The electricity company confirmed that the customer admitted to posting false information to get likes, then removed the post and apologized.

In Ha Tinh, some residents suspect that the meters are inaccurate. Ha Tinh Electricity Company has coordinated with authorities to check.

On September 4, the Ha Tinh Technical Center for Standards, Metrology and Quality received four meters sent by Ha Tinh Electricity for inspection. The results showed that these four meters all met technical requirements, with no errors detected.

In Hung Yen, Ms. Tran Thi Thu (An Thi commune) reported that her electricity bill increased due to a leak in the wire behind the meter. After receiving a clear explanation, EVNNPC said that the people agreed and removed the post.

Or in Thanh Hoa, Ms. Cao Thi Hong (Quang Chinh commune) posted a complaint accusing the "electricity locksmith" of violations. Afterwards, Thanh Hoa Electricity Company coordinated an inspection.

The inspection results showed that people bought electricity from Thanh Hoa Electricity Business Management Joint Stock Company (a private entity licensed to trade electricity directly with people), which is not a unit of the electricity industry. According to the authorities, the staff of this private company recorded the wrong index and then adjusted the bill.

Currently, in 17 provinces and cities in the North, EVNNPC retails 91.6% to more than 11 million customers, the rest is sold by 507 private organizations and enterprises to more than 1.06 million customers. The electricity industry affirms that 100% of remote meters operate accurately, the errors in closing indexes are mainly in private units, and recommends that people contact local electricity for inspection and answers.
