Monitoring activities enhance the role of the Front

Social supervision and criticism activities have contributed to enhancing the role of the Front, creating more "bridges" and strengthening people's trust in the Party and State.

On December 19, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review the implementation of Directive No. 18-CT/TW dated October 26, 2022 of the Secretariat and Notice No. 24-TT/TU dated May 19, 2023 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on promoting the role, improving the quality and effectiveness of supervision and social criticism work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio- political organizations.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, assessed that the monitoring and social criticism activities of the Fatherland Front system at all levels in the city have always received attention from the Party Committee, government and people. Since then, the quality has been improved.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, the City Front system has proactively developed plans, innovated methods of organizing monitoring activities, and determined the focus of monitoring content and objects. Thanks to that, people have increasingly participated more actively in giving opinions on Party and government building.

Meanwhile, the monitoring activities of the People's Inspectorate at the commune level and the Community Investment Supervision Board have achieved many positive results, contributing to preventing and stopping negative manifestations in state management work at the local level.

Reporting at the conference, Mr. Le Nguyen Hong Quang, Head of the Democracy - Law Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, said that in implementing the above policies, the City Front has recently deployed 10 contents of supervision for 36 organizations and 3 individuals. The subjects implementing supervision have proactively coordinated to publicly inform the people to know and continue to supervise the program and plan to overcome.

Regarding social criticism activities, the City Front has chaired and organized 7 contents. Thereby, it has received many enthusiastic contributions from intellectuals, experts, scientists , lawyers, members of advisory groups of the City Front and the Fronts of districts, towns and Thu Duc city. The recommendations after criticism were seriously accepted by the agencies.

In order to effectively monitor and criticize society, the Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City suggested that it is necessary to continue to research, review, supplement, amend or develop new documents to promptly institutionalize the rights and responsibilities of the Front and socio-political organizations to participate in monitoring and criticizing society. In particular, clearly define the responsibilities of competent organizations and individuals to coordinate and create favorable conditions to promote the people's supervisory role.

At the same time, Ms. Thuy also hopes that the regulations need to clarify the responsibility for responding to and resolving comments and recommendations after supervision; the mechanism for handling organizations and individuals who do not cooperate, obstruct supervision and social criticism activities, or abuse the right to supervise and social criticism to cause harm to organizations and individuals.

“The system of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels of the city continue to innovate the content and methods of social supervision and criticism in a proactive, grassroots, and objective manner; focusing on major policies and guidelines, prioritizing issues directly related to the rights and legitimate interests of the people, and issues of public concern and concern…”, Ms. Thuy emphasized.
