In Bao Lam commune, heavy rain caused landslides in Na Mau and Khau Na hamlets, affecting 2 households, with a total volume of landslides of about 25m³. Many rice areas about to be harvested were flooded, with estimated damage of over 4 hectares. Some sections of National Highway 34 were flooded from 1m deep or more; traffic was cut off, vehicles could not circulate; the central agricultural market of the commune was flooded over 1m deep. Heavy rain also damaged many crop areas in Phieng Nam hamlet, the boarding kitchen area and teachers' office of Nam Tan school were deeply submerged in mud and floodwater.
Similarly, in the communes of Yen Tho, Quang Lam, and Nam Quang, heavy rains caused flooding of many areas of crops and trees of the people, and many inter-village and inter-hamlet roads also collapsed, making it difficult to travel. In Ly Bon commune, high floodwaters caused landslides of large volumes of soil and rock to fall onto the road, causing traffic jams on National Highways 34 and 4C.
In Truong Ha commune, flooding occurred in 25 hamlets, of which 10 houses were flooded, 40 hectares of crops were damaged; the area along both banks of Lenin stream to the commune center is currently partially flooded.
In Thong Nong commune, the roof of Luong Can Primary and Secondary School was blown off; water flooded over 20 households in the hamlets: Da Sa, Lang Can, Dong May, Ngoc Sy and Nam Hung Dao. At many traffic points (provincial road 204, Bac Hung Dao hamlet section (Ban Ruom area), water rose about 0.5m - 1m above the road surface, paralyzing traffic.
In Can Yen commune, flooding occurred in 17 hamlets in the commune; The area along both sides of the river is flooded, flash floods; 4 houses have landslides, 45 houses and 65 hectares of crops are flooded. The hamlets: Ngoc Sy, Pac Ngam are isolated; Hoa Chung hamlet is deeply flooded. Heavy rain causes flooding in the two hamlets: Ngoc Sy and Ta Cap. The schools: Ngoc Sy Kindergarten, Primary School and Phieng Pan, Can Thom school have all the school supplies leaked and soaked. On National Highway 4A in Ta Cap hamlet, landslides have broken the road; the hamlets: Na Tinh, Ngoc Sy - Lung Ty, Ban Rich are currently isolated and impassable.
In Quang Uyen commune, heavy rains, accompanied by strong gusts of wind, caused flooding and landslides in many places, many areas were cut off, isolated and damaged people's crops. No human casualties have been recorded yet. Accordingly, in Tri Phuong 1, Lung Rieng - Quoc Phong, Quoc Dan, Dong Thai hamlets; Chi Thao Primary School, Phuc Sen Primary School were deeply flooded, traffic was cut off. There were 27 households in Quoc Dan hamlet and nearly 10 households in Tri Phuong 1 hamlet isolated. Heavy rain caused landslides in the fence of Chi Thao Primary School, 1 house in Phuc Dung hamlet, and the fence of Phuc Sen Cultural House.
The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the communes mobilized militia, police and vehicles to assist people in evacuating their belongings; and set up checkpoints at flooded and landslide areas. All schools in the communes allowed students to stay home to prevent natural disasters and ensure safety. The commune authorities are continuing to inspect, count the damage and deploy measures to respond to and overcome the consequences of floods.
Heavy rains are still continuing, people are advised to closely monitor the weather, proactively take preventive measures; do not go through deeply flooded areas, landslides and riverside areas; be ready to mobilize forces to participate in rescue, relief work, and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
