Hanoi students return to school 1 week before the opening day

Hanoi students will start the 2025-2026 school year on September 5, one week earlier than the opening day.

On August 26, according to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the Hanoi People's Committee issued a framework plan for the 2025-2026 school year for preschool education, general education and continuing education in Hanoi.

Accordingly, the city will hold the opening ceremony on September 5, 2025. Students of kindergartens, general schools and continuing education schools will return to school one week earlier than the opening ceremony date.

Students in grades 1, 9 and 12 will return to school at least 2 weeks before the opening day.

The Hanoi city's 2025-2026 school year schedule stipulates that schools must end the first semester before January 18, 2026; complete the program and end the school year before May 31, 2026; consider recognition of completion of primary school program and recognition of junior high school graduation before June 30, 2026; and complete enrollment for first-grade classes before July 31, 2026.

The Hanoi city school year schedule framework also clearly states that the 2026 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place on June 26 and 27.

Other national exams are organized according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training .

The Director of the Department of Education and Training is responsible for directing all levels and sectors to strictly implement the 2025-2026 school year schedule framework issued by the City People's Committee.
