On June 28, the General Department of Population and Family Planning held a workshop to collect opinions on the model of Daytime Health Care Center for the Elderly. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Truong, Director of the Department of Population Structure and Quality, General Department of Population and Family Planning attended and chaired the workshop. Also attending were leaders of the Provincial Department of Population and Family Planning; representatives of departments, branches and experts in the field of elderly health care.

In order to effectively implement the work of caring for the elderly, the Ministry of Health has developed a draft guideline for piloting the model of Daytime Health Care Center for the Elderly and is in the process of collecting comments from localities to complete it. The objective of the draft guideline for piloting the model of Daytime Health Care Center for the Elderly is to help localities build and pilot a model suitable to the characteristics of the locality. After evaluating the results of the pilot, if successful, the model will be replicated to meet the needs of care and improve the health of the elderly in the community.
Delegates gave comments at the workshop. 
At the workshop, after being informed about the overview of current regulations on elderly care facilities; instructions on building and piloting the model of Daytime Elderly Health Care Center, delegates gave their opinions on the necessity of the model, location and funding for implementing the model...
The model of Day Care Center for the Elderly is a new model, not yet available in Vietnam. This model has been successfully implemented in many developed countries.
