Son Tay Jackfruit Festival 2023

On the evening of June 24, the People's Committee of Son Tay town organized the Son Tay Jackfruit Competition 2023. There were 17 participating teams, coming from 9 communes, wards and 2 military units located in the town.

Vice Chairman of Son Tay Town People's Committee Nguyen Viet Dat said: Currently, the area of native jackfruit cultivation in the area is about 100 hectares, concentrated in some communes with many hills such as: Son Dong, Co Dong, Kim Son, Xuan Son, Thanh My... Son Tay jackfruit is delicious, sweet, good quality, a fruit with abundant source of vitamin C, rich in nutrients, has anti-aging effects...

A large number of officials and people attended and cheered the contest.

In 2022, the People's Committee of Son Tay town successfully organized the Son Tay Jackfruit Competition. Since then, Son Tay jackfruit has been known to many people and ordered early, in large quantities. In communes and wards, there are delicious jackfruit trees, many customers even order whole trees to pick gradually.

The jackfruit entered into the contest must be traditional tough jackfruit, also known as Vietnamese jackfruit, naturally ripened, without the use of vinegar, ensuring safety for users. The fruit has even thorns, beautiful color, fragrant smell, not crooked, not wormy, not cracked. The jackfruit must have a clear address and origin, taken from jackfruit trees grown in the commune or ward participating in the contest.

For the jackfruit quality competition, the judges tasted and evaluated the criteria of pulp thickness, crispness, sweetness, color, aroma and scored according to the Organizing Committee's scoring sheet.

The teams brought to the contest impressive jackfruit trays: images of Vietnam, jackfruit flowers, jackfruit jelly, trays of food made from jackfruit segments, jackfruit seeds, jackfruit cakes, jackfruit sausages...

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 11 consolation prizes to the winning teams. The total prize value was 32.5 million VND.
