Cooperation in research and development of biotechnology industry in Ho Chi Minh City

On the afternoon of March 7, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park coordinated with pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers with strengths in applying high technology in the fields of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology (CNSH) to organize a workshop: "Cooperation in research, development and application of CNSH at Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park".

The workshop aims to promote cooperation in development and application of the biotechnology industry for socio -economic development in the direction of green growth.

Dr. Bui Dinh Thach, representative of the Institute of Tropical Biology - VAST, said that biotechnology is a high-tech field based on the foundation of life science , combined with technical processes and equipment to create technologies to exploit and produce high-quality biological products, serving socio-economic development and environmental protection. This is a key task and a development opportunity for the biopharmaceutical industry to make important breakthroughs in the strategy of researching to create quality products and developing human resources.

MSc. Pharmacist Phan Van Hieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Institute of Pharmaceutical Preparation and Natural Active Ingredients, FGI Holdings, presented a paper at the conference.

Currently, the application of biotechnology in the medical field includes: Development of biopharmaceuticals, pharmacogenomics, gene therapy...

Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, spoke at the workshop.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, said that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Board to develop and implement the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Expansion Project with the goal of becoming a world-class high-tech park by 2030, operating according to the model of a science and technology park. In particular, prioritizing investment in high-tech development in the field of biotechnology is also one of the very important tasks.
