Ilkay Gundogan's superb double helped Man City beat rivals Man Utd 2-1, thereby winning their second title this season.
After winning the Premier League, this title will be a springboard for Man City to conquer the treble of major titles, thereby becoming the first English club to do so since Man Utd in the 1998-1999 season. On June 11, Pep Guardiola's team will play Inter in the Champions League final. This is the seventh FA Cup Man City has won and the second time they have won this arena in the Premier League championship season, after the 2018-2019 season.

Man Utd lost their ninth FA Cup final, a record for the competition. They have lost four of their last five. The Red Devils were underdogs in this game but were still hoping to stop City's in-form squad. Ultimately, Man Utd failed to win their second title of the season under Erik ten Hag. They ended their trophy drought in February with victory in the League Cup final against Newcastle.
Man City's victory was marked by midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. The Man City captain opened the scoring in the 12th second with a superb one-touch volley from outside the box. This was the fastest goal in the history of 142 FA Cup finals, breaking the record set by Louis Saha in 2009 when he scored in the 25th second for Everton in a 1-2 loss to Chelsea.
After Man City were level and struggling early in the second half, Gundogan spoke up again. Receiving a corner kick from Kevin De Bruyne in front of the box, Gundogan volleyed with his left foot. The ball did not go far but hit the ground and was out of sight, making it impossible for David De Gea to block even though he touched the ball. Last summer, Gundogan wanted to leave but stayed because Man City held on. The German midfielder showed his worth when he saved Man City from difficult situations many times last season.
