VHO - The first round of the group stage of the 2025 AFF Women's Championship ended with victories belonging to the teams that were rated higher.

The 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship takes place from August 6 to 19 at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ) and Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).

The tournament brings together 8 teams, including: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia (Group A), Australia, Philippines, Myanmar and Timor Leste (Group B).

The teams are divided into 2 groups, compete in a round robin to calculate points, rank, and select the 2 teams with the best results to enter the semi-finals.

In the first match of Group B taking place on the evening of August 7 at Viet Tri Stadium, the defending champion Philippines affirmed its strength when defeating Timor Leste 7-0.

In the remaining match, the Myanmar girls won 3-0 against the Australian youth team.

With these results, the Philippines and Myanmar temporarily lead the rankings with 3 points after the first round of matches.

Previously in Group A, host Vietnam easily defeated Cambodia 6-0.

Similarly, the Thai women's team also affirmed their strength when they "destroyed" Indonesia 7-0.

After the first round of matches, the Thai women's team temporarily ranked above the Vietnamese women's team thanks to a better sub-index even though both teams had 3 points.

The second round of Group A will take place on August 9 with 2 matches: Vietnam - Indonesia and Thailand - Cambodia.

One day later (August 10), two matches in Group B will also take place: Australia - Philippines and Myanmar - Timor Leste.
