This year's event is not only the largest annual congress of the world logistics industry, but also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the FIATA community.
FIATA World Congress 2025 (FWC 2025) brings together more than 1,039 delegates from over 100 countries and territories, participating in a multi-day agenda with in-depth discussion sessions, exhibitions of more than 120 booths and B2B networking on a modern technology platform.
Attending the Congress were leaders of countries, policymakers, leaders of Logistics Associations of various countries, along with many leading corporations, transportation, import-export enterprises in the world and experts from prestigious international organizations.
Global challenges, pressure for change

In his opening speech, Mr. Turgut Erkeskin, President of FIATA, emphasized that the theme “Green and Resilient Logistics” is urgent in the context of the logistics industry facing many challenges.
“The world is witnessing trade shifts, geopolitical upheavals, the rise of e-commerce, rapid technological developments and growing pressure on sustainability,” said Erkeskin, who said logistics companies are at the heart of these changes, having to ensure the efficient movement of goods while also being environmentally and socially responsible.
The FIATA President said that green logistics is becoming a mandatory standard linked to environmental responsibility, legal requirements and competitive advantage. The pressure to reduce emissions comes not only from governments and major export markets, but also from consumers and global climate commitments. He affirmed that FWC 2025 will be a place for the international community to share solutions, establish strategies for the logistics industry to “adapt quickly to the times”, and at the same time create strong connections between businesses and organizations.
Vietnam - the destination of green logistics
Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Services Association (VLA), said that organizing the FIATA World Congress 2025 in Hanoi is a source of pride, affirming Vietnam's increasingly high position on the global logistics map.
According to him, the event received strong support from the Government, along with the accompaniment of ministries, sectors and the business community. This is not only an annual congress, but also a pivotal event to shape a new logistics development model: greener, more digital and more sustainable.
Mr. Khoa emphasized that Vietnam is a dynamic economy with a total trade turnover expected to exceed 800 billion USD in 2025. The country currently has more than 45,000 logistics enterprises, of which 5,000 are international freight forwarding enterprises, making important contributions to the economy. The logistics market size is estimated at 70 - 80 billion USD, with the potential to become a new logistics center of ASEAN.
The Vietnamese Government has also issued many resolutions and strategies for developing green, modern and internationally integrated logistics, such as the National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Logistics is identified as one of 18 priority sectors, aiming for a commitment to net zero emissions by 2050. However, the challenge remains large as logistics costs account for 16-18% of GDP (higher than the global average of 10-12%), while CO₂ emissions account for 8-10% of total national emissions.

Over the course of five days, FWC 2025 will host a series of in-depth discussions on key issues: cross-border e-commerce, digital transformation and innovation in green logistics, developing resilient supply chains, modernizing cold chains, restructuring global trade in the face of geopolitical volatility, next-generation transport corridors, and promoting water-rail transport for sustainable supply chains.
Another highlight is the Young Logistics Professionals Award (YLP), which honors the creative young generation – those expected to pioneer the future of the global logistics industry.
FIATA is a non-governmental membership-based organization representing freight forwarders in approximately 150 countries and territories. With 113 association members, more than 6,000 individual members and representing 40,000 logistics companies, FIATA plays a central role in coordinating and connecting the global transport industry.
With FWC 2025, Vietnam is considered by the international community as an important link in the East-West and ASEAN economic corridors, and has the opportunity to affirm its central role in the global supply chain.
