Opening of Vietnamese Cultural Week in Iran

Continuing his official visit to Iran, on the evening of August 9 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Cultural Week in Iran on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Iran diplomatic relations (1973-2023).

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran and a number of Iranian units and opened at the Tehran Capital Cultural Center.

Also attending from Iran were Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Orientation Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili; representatives of the Diplomatic Corps in Tehran; leaders of ministries, sectors and a large community of Vietnamese people and the public in Tehran.

Leaders and delegates expressed their joy at participating in meaningful cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Iran diplomatic relations; emphasizing that this is the best time for both sides to look back on the past 50 years and discuss to determine specific directions and measures for the next stage.

Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili emphasized the prospect that the two sides will further strengthen their cooperation in the fields of culture, arts and cinema. With the increasingly important role and position of Iran in West Asia and Vietnam in Southeast Asia, as well as the great potential for cooperation between the two countries, in the coming time, the Vietnam-Iran relationship will certainly have new developments, commensurate with the potential of both sides, for the benefit of the people of both countries.

Minister Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili said that the Iranian President and Iranian leaders personally want to expand relations and exchanges in the cultural field, and the two cultural management ministries of the two countries will consider signing a memorandum of understanding on comprehensive cooperation with specific contents for implementation in the coming time.

The "Colors of Vietnam" exhibition space and "Vietnam Film Week" in Iran hope to introduce to Iranian friends the beauty of Vietnam, with attractive destinations, natural and cultural heritages recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and traditional craft villages with exquisite handicraft products.

Covering all is the image of a beautiful Vietnam and its people, integrating internationally and developing dynamically, being a friend, a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of the international community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong said that through the exhibition, Iranian people can better understand Vietnamese culture and can see similarities in the cultures of the two nations. This is also a bridge to promote exchange, cooperation and strengthen friendship between the two peoples.

The organizers said the exhibition space displays 70 photos introducing the beauty of Vietnam - a country of attractive tourist destinations, UNESCO natural and cultural heritages, a culture imbued with national identity, rich customs and festivals, the beauty of the Vietnamese people and soul, with love of work, will to rise, optimism, openness and gentleness.
