On October 21, in Beijing, China, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism coordinated with relevant units to organize the Vietnam Tourism Introduction Program, connecting businesses in 2025.
This is the opening event in a series of activities to promote Vietnamese tourism in three major cities of China, including Beijing, Chongqing and Chengdu, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (1950-2025) and the Vietnam-China Cultural Exchange Year 2025.
The event is of special significance, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship, promoting tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries, while opening up opportunities to increase guest exchange, connect businesses and promote the image of a friendly and hospitable Vietnam to Chinese friends.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries is a relationship rich in tradition and an objective need that has always been identified by the two Parties and two States as one of the important pillars in the overall bilateral friendship.
Notably, in October 2022, during the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of China signed the Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Plan for the 2023-2027 period, opening a framework for comprehensive, oriented and in-depth cooperation between the two ministries and sectors.
In that spirit, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and agencies, localities and businesses of the two countries have been implementing many specific activities to promote people-to-people exchanges, enhance image promotion, and develop sustainable tourism, thereby contributing to the increasingly stable, healthy and effective development of Vietnam-China relations.
Since 2018, the two sides have maintained the mechanism of “Annual Meetings at the Ministry Leadership Level” and implemented many bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities in the fields of culture and tourism regularly, substantively and effectively. Thanks to that, the Vietnam-China tourism cooperation relationship has grown stronger and stronger, becoming one of the bright spots in the picture of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to strengthen exchanges and contacts at the leadership level of ministries and specialized agencies to effectively implement the Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Plan for the 2023-2027 period in accordance with the direction of the leaders of the two governments.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism hopes to work with Chinese partners to promote the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation platform, promote sustainable tourism development, and exploit the rich potential of resources, culture and people of each country.
The two sides will support each other in tourism promotion, organize events to introduce destinations, increase exchanges of business delegations, press and experts, and create favorable conditions for tourists from both countries to travel, experience and explore.
Along with that, Vietnam wishes to closely coordinate with China in managing the quality of tourism services, developing infrastructure, training human resources, and digital transformation in tourism management and promotion, towards forming a smart, safe, and sustainable tourism cooperation environment.
Affirming that the potential and room for development of the Vietnam-China tourist market is still very large, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism is also ready to create conditions for businesses of the two countries to meet, exchange, build new products, research tourism investment cooperation models, especially in the fields of resort tourism, golf tourism, cultural-culinary tourism and MICE tourism, thereby contributing to further promoting the exchange of tourists between Vietnam and China in the coming period.
Highly appreciating the Vietnam National Tourism Administration's organization of the Vietnam Tourism Introduction Program in three major cities of China to introduce Vietnam's tourism policies and resources, and to enhance the exploitation and further promote the tourism potential of the two countries, Ambassador of the Vietnamese Embassy in China Ning Chenggong affirmed that this is a good opportunity to introduce to the Chinese people attractive and safe tourist destinations and typical images of the country and people of Vietnam.
Ambassador Ninh Thanh Cong believes that with the active cooperation of the competent agencies and enterprises of the two countries, the tourism cooperation between the two countries will continue to be restored and strongly developed, achieving more results, contributing to consolidating and developing the friendly relations between the people of Vietnam and China.
According to Zheng Fang, Deputy Director of the Beijing Culture and Tourism Bureau, in recent years, with the in-depth cooperation between the two countries in various fields, cultural and tourism exchanges have become an important bridge to enhance mutual understanding and consolidate traditional friendship. Vietnam's rich history and culture, beautiful natural landscapes and unique cultural customs have attracted more and more Chinese tourists to visit and experience.
Ms. Trinh Phuong emphasized that, with its role as a cultural center and historical capital of China, Beijing hopes this activity will be an opportunity to further promote deep cooperation between Beijing and Vietnamese localities in the field of cultural tourism, expanding substantive exchanges in many fields such as tourist exchange, product promotion...
Meanwhile, Mr. Chu Nghia Hai - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Tianjin City - assessed that Vietnam's tourism industry has developed very rapidly in recent years. Vietnam has become a tourist destination of interest to Chinese tourists, and at the same time, a tourist destination expected by Tianjin tourists.
Affirming that Tianjin and Vietnamese localities have unique and complementary tourism resources, tourism cooperation between the two sides has a good foundation and broad prospects, Mr. Chu Nghia Hai expressed his hope that this event will be an opportunity to continue perfecting the cultural and tourism exchange mechanism between Tianjin and Vietnamese localities, promoting information sharing, tourist exchange and expanding cooperation channels.
According to statistics, in recent years, China has always been the leading market sending tourists to Vietnam, with the peak reaching more than 5.8 million visitors/year, accounting for about 30% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam.
In 2024, the number of Chinese visitors to Vietnam will reach nearly 3.74 million, a recovery of more than 64% compared to the pre-COVID-19 period. In the first 9 months of this year alone, Vietnam welcomed nearly 3.9 million Chinese visitors, an increase of more than 43% over the same period, continuing to hold the number one market position.
In contrast, Vietnam is also one of the five largest foreign markets sending tourists to China, especially short-term tours, cultural-culinary and shopping tours. This is a clear demonstration of the need for exchange, understanding and deep cooperation between the people of the two countries, as well as the great development potential of Vietnam-China tourism in the coming time./.
