Survey on construction of boarding school, inter-level primary and secondary school in Vinh Gia commune

On the afternoon of September 9, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province, Thieu Van Nam, led a working delegation to work with Vinh Gia commune on the investment plan to build a boarding school and a boarding school for primary and secondary levels in the land border communes.

Recently, Vinh Gia commune has proactively and urgently reviewed and counted the scale of schools and students; organized a comprehensive assessment of the current state of facilities and boarding and semi-boarding needs of primary and secondary school students in the area. At the same time, reviewed and evaluated the search for a location with a suitable area, from 5 - 10 hectares; a scale of about 30 classrooms, meeting the learning needs of 1,000 students; estimated cost for land use conversion and site leveling is about 15 billion VND.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Vinh Gia commune will have more than 2,600 primary and secondary school students; the scale is large enough to establish an inter-level educational facility. Most of the students have the need to study semi-boarding because their parents are farmers; children of civil servants and public employees living and working in the commune.

However, the implementation of the investment plan and construction of a primary and secondary boarding school faces some difficulties, such as: high long-term operating costs; difficulties in management, human resources and initial operation. In addition, the model of a boarding and semi-boarding school in remote and border areas is a new form, requiring careful preparation of regulations, operating procedures, personnel, etc.

Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province, Thieu Van Nam, requested to prioritize ethnic minority students and local students; review the possibility of increasing the number of students at primary and secondary schools; build functional rooms, principal's offices, traditional rooms, libraries... of the school to ensure standards, and design to ensure boarding accommodation of about 600 beds.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training requested localities to build more entertainment, recreation, and sports areas; prioritize digital transformation and information technology in teaching.
