Construction started on repairing National Highway 14, section passing through Bu Dang commune

The project's objective is to repair the roadbed, road surface, drainage system, and complete the traffic safety system to improve operating conditions, ensure traffic safety, and extend the life of the project. The project has a total investment of more than 39.5 billion VND and is expected to be completed next December.

The repair project was approved under Decision No. 4053/QD-CDBVN dated November 8, 2024 of the Vietnam Road Administration. The repair scale is 15 sections, from Km887+200 to km910, maintaining the scale and standards of the existing route (level III plain road, cross-section scale: roadbed width 12m; 2 motor vehicle lanes 2x3.5m; 2 rudimentary vehicle lanes 2x2m).

At locations with cracks and rutted wheel tracks, the contractor will scrape off the damaged concrete layer (average 6cm); apply adhesion with CRS-1 fast-separating emulsion, standard 0.5kg/m2; and restore the pavement with C19 asphalt concrete to the existing road surface elevation. Damaged locations with local subsidence will have the entire foundation and road surface structure dug up to the full depth of damage, with a minimum thickness of 27cm. Then, restore according to the standards to the existing road surface elevation.

At the repair locations, the unit will repaint the reflective road marking system. The school area will add appropriate signs.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, Construction Commander, said: At this time, the Southern region is in the rainy season. Therefore, we mobilize vehicles and human resources to focus on construction with the spirit of finishing as soon as possible. National Highway 14 has a high traffic volume. The road surface through Bu Dang commune is narrow and steep. During the construction process, the unit always focuses on implementing all traffic safety measures, installing reflective markers, and assigning traffic controllers. Taking advantage of the early morning and midday when the weather is clear, we will speed up the progress so that the project can be completed on time.
