Lai Chau Medical Center currently has 2 functional rooms, 7 specialized departments, 2 ward health stations and 8 stations, with a scale of 40 planned beds and 40 actual beds. On average, each year, the Center admits, examines and treats outpatients for about 43,500 people; inpatients treat 252.8 patients/year.
In recent times, the Center has promoted the application of information technology according to Circular 54/2017/TT-BYT and Circular 13/2025/TT-BYT. Up to now, the Center has deployed LIS medical examination and treatment management software, image storage and transmission system (RIS-PACS), hospital information system (HIS)... The Center has implemented LAN connection between buildings using Cat6A coaxial cable system, 100% of departments in each building are connected to LAN, Internet. With 2 fiber optic lines with access speed of 01Mbps to meet the Internet access needs of the entire existing system; 100% of officers, civil servants and employees are trained and fully equipped with IT equipment to serve professional work.
During the implementation of the electronic medical record system, Lai Chau Medical Center established an Electronic Medical Record Appraisal Council to evaluate the conditions of information technology infrastructure, professional processes and practical operating skills.
At the conference, the Appraisal Council and related members directly appraised the implementation of electronic medical records in the departments and offices of the Center. Along with that, they conducted a vote to appraise the conditions. As a result, Lai Chau Medical Center was qualified to deploy electronic medical records.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Ta Hong Long - Deputy Director of the Department of Health emphasized that the implementation of electronic medical records at Lai Chau Medical Center is an important step in the process of digital transformation of healthcare at the unit. In particular, the implementation of electronic medical records to completely replace paper medical records will contribute to reducing procedures, improving the quality of medical data, ensuring data security and creating a solid foundation for connecting and sharing data with the national health system, serving the work of taking care of people's health effectively and continuously. Thereby, actively contributing to administrative reform, saving costs, minimizing professional errors and creating favorable conditions for statistics, scientific research, connecting and interconnecting medical data across the industry.
He also suggested that the Center should continue to perfect the regulations and rules to be more complete and detailed, continue to upgrade and supplement software in the process of implementing electronic medical records; strengthen training and improve the capacity of staff in applying electronic medical records to medical examination and treatment activities... This will be an important foundation for moving towards building a smart hospital model in the future.
On this occasion, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade - Lai Chau Branch (Vietinbank Lai Chau) presented a smart kiosk connected to data software worth 65 million VND; leaders of Hai Nam Pharmaceutical Company Limited presented a firewall device worth 60 million VND to Lai Chau Medical Center.
