According to the investigation results, since 2021, Ngan 98 has cooperated with a number of factories in Hanoi to order the production of weight loss products such as Super Detox X3, X7, X1000. On paper, these are licensed products.
However, she took advantage of the "freebie" model to launch a weight loss collagen pill containing banned substances - sibutramine and phenolphthalein, two active ingredients that can cause cardiovascular disorders, high blood pressure and cancer.
Working with the investigation agency, Ngan confessed that she "trusted the manufacturer's documents so she sold the company", and also admitted that she let her biological mother be the company's owner because she "often performed and didn't have time to sign the documents". However, the police agency determined that all operations, business and financial activities were directly directed and benefited by Ngan.
According to collected data, in the period of 2023 - 2024 alone, revenue from selling products operated by Ngan 98 amounted to hundreds of billions of VND, transferred through many accounts of relatives and employees to conceal the cash flow.
Ho Chi Minh City police are expanding their investigation to clarify the roles of individuals, factories and related units in the counterfeit goods production and trading ring that is harmful to public health.
