Accordingly, patient Tran TB (41 years old, residing in Dinh Van Lam Ha commune, Lam Dong province) came to the hospital with pain, burning sensation in the eyes, irritation and continuous watering.
Through medical history, while the patient was repairing a compressed gas tank in agriculture , the high pressure caused the tank to explode, burning his hand and sending many pieces flying. Seeing this, the patient's family quickly took him to the emergency room at Saigon - Da Lat Eye Hospital.

At the hospital, the patient was quickly examined and assessed for the extent of the injury by resident physician Huynh Thi Xuan Thao, Head of the Ophthalmology Department.

Through examination with specialized equipment, it was discovered that the patient had many small pieces of metal stabbed into the cornea (black eye) of the left eye, and a diagnosis of a metal foreign body in the cornea of the left eye was made.
Doctors directly removed the foreign object from the patient. At the same time, they performed specialized procedures to avoid infection. If not removed properly or treated late, they can rust right in the eye. At that time, the eye becomes severely infected, tissue necrosis, and vision rapidly declines.

Resident Doctor Huynh Thi Xuan Thao, Head of the General Ophthalmology Department, recommends: “When working with compressed gas cylinders or high-pressure machinery, workers need to strictly follow safety procedures, always wear protective glasses to protect their eyes and reduce the risk of accidents.
In case of an unfortunate foreign object getting into the eye, absolutely do not use your hands, toothpicks or sharp objects to remove it, and do not rub your eyes, as this may cause more serious damage.
Patients should temporarily cover their eyes with clean gauze and quickly go to an eye hospital for proper treatment. Absolutely do not arbitrarily apply herbal leaves or apply folk remedies to avoid unnecessary consequences.
