Ky Duyen explains the statement "never finished reading a book"

On her personal page, Miss Ky Duyen posted an article explaining the presentation in episode 2 of Miss Universe Vietnam.

The beauty shared her entire thoughts in the presentation as follows: “The truth is that until now I have never read a single book, because I am a practical person who likes to learn and absorb knowledge through images and sounds. Talking about health, I do not need to read books but I still know how to exercise and eat to have a beautiful body.

However, even though I have a healthy lifestyle, everyone would think that my mind is always stable. But no, I have a lot of stress and sometimes it makes me panic. One day, I came across the book “Ikigai, finding the reason to wake up every morning” and it completely changed my thinking.

In the following part, Ky Duyen shares about the Ikigai lifestyle, affirming that she clearly understands who she is and what she is here to do.

The beauty queen added: "I really don't know why, but after saying the first two sentences of my presentation, all the ideas in my head ran away. The biggest mistake was that I wasn't strong enough to overcome the pressure, leading to misunderstandings and inaccurate information."

However, all these intentions were not aired.

Therefore, Ky Duyen’s explanation did not satisfy the audience. Only Ky Duyen herself knew what Ky Duyen wanted to say, the majority of the audience saw an image of Ky Duyen stuttering, not knowing what to say when participating in the response.

Many people think that when competing in beauty pageants and answering questions, contestants need to be well prepared and have flexible thinking instead of blaming themselves for forgetting everything after saying the first two sentences.

The fact that Ky Duyen has been crowned for 10 years but still stutters, gives a naive and shallow presentation is also disappointing. While initially, she was a name that exploded in the media when she registered for the beauty pageant for the second time.

"Wanting to have intelligence and sharp thinking but not reading a whole book, that's why she behaves poorly whether in Vietnamese or English", "Ky Duyen seems to support the way of thinking that there's no need to read books and only learn from reality, very unconvincing"... the audience commented.

Previously, Ky Duyen's presentation in episode 2 of Miss Universe Vietnam was widely spread on platforms. At the beginning of the exam, Ky Duyen said: "The truth is that until now I have not finished reading any book. Because I am a practical person. I like to cultivate knowledge through images and sounds."

Afterwards, she faltered and was unable to complete her presentation. Her incomplete performance put Ky Duyen in the group of 3 dangerous candidates.

In episode 1, Ky Duyen's English introduction was also disappointing as her pronunciation, word usage, and expression were not really good. It is worth mentioning that right from the first sentence, the beauty queen made a basic grammar mistake.

Ky Duyen’s catwalk ability has also been criticized for being stiff and indecisive. Even though for many years she has been a coach and judge of many beauty and modeling contests.

This is also the reason why many audiences were disappointed, because they thought Ky Duyen's performance was not commensurate with her experience and long-term preparation over the past 10 years.

Ky Duyen was born in 1996 and was crowned Miss Vietnam in 2014. She studied at the Foreign Trade University, majoring in Foreign Economics . However, there is no official information on whether she has received her diploma or not.
