Black H'Mong chicken farming model of Ms. Pham Thi Hong |
Realizing that the model of raising and trading black H'Mong chickens has many prospects, Ms. Hong borrowed 100 million VND from preferential capital entrusted through the women's channel to start a business.
Previously, Ms. Hong also raised small-scale livestock, mainly Tam Hoang chickens, crossbred fighting chickens, ducks, etc. Later, after learning more about the H'mong black chicken - a rare breed of chicken with black, firm and fragrant meat and bones, favored by the market, Ms. Hong boldly tried to raise it. From a few hundred brood chickens, raised to sell as meat chickens, up to now, Ms. Hong's farm maintains more than 2,000 chicks raised for breeding and nearly a thousand meat chickens.
Whoever points out a good farm with good experience, Ms. Hong goes to learn from, from Phu Vinh commune to Da Nang or in the North... Raising black chickens, the important thing is to pay attention to the selection of breeds, importing breeds from reputable, quality places. Not only do you have to vaccinate the chickens fully and regularly, but you also have to give them electrolyte water to drink during the hot season, keep the barn clean and cool, and ensure warmth in the winter.
“Raising black H'Mong chickens is not much different from raising native chickens or crossbred chickens... but has more advantages. Because black H'Mong chickens are popular in the market, have higher prices, good resistance, and are less prone to diseases. To have the business I have today, I also started from "baby steps", when I had no experience, I raised a small number, and gradually increased the number with experience. There were times when raising chickens was not favorable, the chickens got sick, but I was not discouraged. After each failure, I accumulated experience to minimize risks. Thanks to visiting effective chicken raising models in many places and learning a lot of experience, in the past 3 years since I started raising and doing business, the chickens rarely got sick, developed well, and brought high economic efficiency", Ms. Hong shared.
After chatting with us for a while, Ms. Hong's phone rang continuously. Wholesalers near and far placed orders. Every day, Ms. Hong sells over 300 chickens, at 160,000 VND/kg.
Ms. Ngo Ngoc Khanh, Vice President of the Women's Union of Vy Da Ward commented: Ms. Hong is one of the typical examples of women members overcoming difficulties in economic development in the locality. Thanks to the appropriate development direction, Ms. Hong's family economy is increasingly prosperous, life is stable and she can send her children to school. Ms. Hong's model of raising and trading black H'Mong chickens is quite new in the locality, bringing quite high economic efficiency. The Women's Union of the commune also mobilizes and encourages women to visit and learn this model to develop the family economy.
