The contest had the participation of 17 teams from Son Tay town and 6 districts including: Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Thach That, Quoc Oai, Chuong My and Soc Son. Of which, Son Tay town alone had 10 teams from 9 communes, wards and Brigade 45.
The preliminary round of this year's contest includes two contents: clip judging and presentation judging. In addition, the Organizing Committee also organized a group to visit some historical sites and jackfruit gardens in Son Tay town.
According to the regulations, each team participating in the preliminary round must have 5 members. The jackfruit tree participating in the competition must be of the traditional jackfruit variety (Vietnamese jackfruit), must be at least 10 years old if grown from seeds, 8 years old or older for grafted trees, and must have at least 3 years of continuous, stable fruiting.
Jackfruit trees grow strong and green, with balanced canopy development; yield reaches 150kg of fruit/tree, uniformity in shape and size of fruits on the tree is more than 70%.
Contested jackfruit must be naturally ripe, have a fragrant smell, not be ripened by chemicals, not have any strange taste, have even spines, beautiful natural skin color, not be crooked, not have dents, not have worms, not have cracks.
Vice Chairman of Son Tay Town People's Committee Phung Huy Vinh - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest said that after the preliminary round ended, the teams continued to participate in the final round, scheduled to be held on July 5 with the content of judging the decoration, booths and introduction of the competing teams.
Based on the total evaluation scores from the rounds, the Organizing Committee of the Contest to honor, promote and promote the consumption of Hanoi specialty jackfruit varieties in 2024 will select and award prizes to the teams that won the Special, First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes.
