In Luong Tai district, the policy of donating land to expand traffic routes has received great consensus among the people. In just the last 5 years, people in the communes have voluntarily donated over 1,500m2 of land and nearly 2,000 working days to build and expand traffic routes from 2.5m to 5-6m.
When the Trung Chinh commune government promoted and mobilized people to donate land to widen the village road from 3m to 6m, the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thao (Lai Te parish) was the first household to volunteer to donate 120m2 to widen the village road.
Ms. Thao said that before, the village road was only about 3 meters wide, making it difficult for people to travel and trade. When the commune had a policy to widen the road surface to 6 meters, promoting the spirit of party members, Ms. Thao voluntarily dismantled the fence and moved the gate to hand over the site to the construction unit.
Not only leading by example, Mrs. Thao actively worked with the village government and the Front Committee to go to each house to mobilize people to support the local policy to expand the main road of the village. Seeing the great benefits of donating land to open the main road to serve economic development, the people of Lai Te parish unanimously donated 300 square meters to expand the roads to be more spacious and airy.
Talking about the method of propaganda and mobilizing people to donate land for road construction, Mr. Pham Xuan Diep - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Trung Chinh commune said that immediately after the policy was issued, the commune established a steering committee for propaganda and mobilization work headed by the Party Secretary, and at the same time promoted the role of the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in propaganda and mobilization work for the people.
With the motto of publicity, transparency, and slow and steady wins the race, in which, taking the spirit of the cadres and party members who went before, the Front and organizations have actively mobilized and explained to households to see the benefits of expanding the roads and as a result, they have received the support and consensus of the people. With the participation of the entire political system, since 2022, hundreds of households in Trung Chinh commune have voluntarily removed fences, cleared the land, and donated over 500 square meters of land without asking for compensation to expand the village roads to be more spacious and airy.
Not only in Luong Tai, the movement of donating land to open roads has been spreading widely in many localities of Bac Ninh province. Typically, in Gia Binh district, in the past 4 years, more than 400 households in communes have voluntarily donated nearly 6,000 square meters of land to widen dozens of kilometers of rural roads from 2.5 meters to 5-6 meters. There are families who do not hesitate to donate hundreds of square meters of land, some families donate money and contribute labor to widen village roads. All stem from the desire to build an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland.
Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province Nguyen Thi Ha affirmed that the movement of donating land for road construction has brought positive results, expanding rural traffic routes, connecting localities, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and trade goods, creating momentum for socio-economic development, and at the same time contributing to increasing income and improving people's lives.
“The achievements in the past 5 years are a clear demonstration of the widespread influence of the movement to donate land for infrastructure construction. More than 18,000 square meters of land were voluntarily donated by the people with the participation of 1,152 households, along with over 31,000 working days and hundreds of billions of VND contributed.
Thanks to that, more than 80 traffic works, public works and welfare works have been completed, contributing practically to socio-economic development, changing the face of many rural areas" - Ms. Ha shared.
