In the joyful atmosphere to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1975 - 2025), from September 4-6, the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece organized the Vietnam Day event in Greece in the city of Edessa, Pella region.
This is the first time the Vietnam Day event has been held in the northern Greek city, which has a special attachment to President Ho Chi Minh and the country of Vietnam.
The program includes two main activities: “Vietnamese Food Festival” and “Vietnamese Film Days”. The event quickly attracted the attention of local authorities and many Edessa residents.
The festival space became bustling with traditional dishes, handicraft products and special souvenirs for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam National Day, which were warmly welcomed by the people.

This is not only an opportunity to promote culture and cuisine but also contributes to strengthening understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong emphasized that the event had special significance as it took place on the occasion of important milestones in the history of the nation and the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Ambassador thanked the government and people of Edessa for their support and companionship in making the event a success.
For his part, Mayor of Edessa Ioannis Tsepkentzis expressed his honor to host Vietnam Day, and affirmed that the similarities in history, culture and traditional values will continue to be a bridge connecting the two peoples.
He emphasized that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations is not only an opportunity to look back on the past, but also opens a new phase of deeper and more effective cooperation.

Within the framework of the program, Edessa audiences enjoyed documentaries introducing Vietnam's development achievements after 80 years of national independence, documentaries about the special friendship between Vietnam and Greece, Vietnam and Edessa as well as a number of documentaries about President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese feature films that have won awards at domestic and regional film festivals.
The authentic footage contributes to giving the Greek public a vivid look at the land and people of Vietnam today and the friendly relationship between the two peoples.
The Vietnam Day event in Greece in the city of Edessa received widespread attention from local press and Greek national television, thereby strongly spreading the message of friendship, cooperation and strong ties between the two countries.
