Gia Lai leaders 'market' potential, connect with Japanese partners

DNVN - During her working trip to Japan, Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich introduced the potential, strengths and development orientation of the locality, thereby expanding cooperation with the Japanese government and business community.

On September 10, within the framework of the Vietnam National Day at the World Expo 2025 Osaka – Kansai, Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich had a working session with Mr. Chiyomatsu Hiroyasu – Mayor of Izumisano City (Osaka Prefecture). This is considered an important diplomatic activity, contributing to promoting cooperative relations between Gia Lai and Japanese partners.

Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich presented a gift to Mr. Chiyomatsu Hiroyasu - Mayor of Izumisano City.

At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich introduced the development orientation of Gia Lai after merging with Binh Dinh, becoming one of the provinces with the largest area in the country, nearly 22,000 km².

With the advantage of having both a seaport and an international border gate, and a synchronously invested infrastructure system, Gia Lai has emerged as a strategic trading center in the Central Highlands.

Phu Cat Airport is being upgraded to an international airport, the Quy Nhon – Pleiku expressway is about to start construction and the North – South expressway sections passing through the area will create a complete traffic network, shortening transportation time and reducing logistics costs.

“This is an important foundation for Gia Lai to become a center for processing industry, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture , services, tourism and new technology industries such as semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence,” affirmed Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich.

The Vice Chairman of Gia Lai province also emphasized that the Vietnam-Japan relationship is at its best stage of development, as the two countries have upgraded to the level of “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World” since 2023. This is a solid foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation in many fields, from economy, agriculture, tourism, processing industry to training young human resources.

Gia Lai provincial leaders hope that Izumisano authorities will continue to support the introduction of the province's image, potential and strengths; and act as a bridge to provide information on Gia Lai's investment attraction mechanisms and policies to Izumisano investors.

In response, Mayor Chiyomatsu Hiroyasu appreciated the attention of Gia Lai leaders and recalled the memorandum of understanding signed in 2019 between Izumisano and Binh Dinh. He said that the two sides have maintained friendly relations through many exchanges, conferences, and investment promotion activities in the fields of culture, tourism, education, health care, and economy.

With the formation of the new Gia Lai province after administrative reform, the Mayor expressed his belief that the cooperative relationship will become increasingly stronger, bringing practical benefits to both localities.

On the same day, the Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee visited Shimizu Company in Osaka. The company representative introduced the operation process, typical products and affirmed the desire to invest and expand cooperation with Gia Lai in areas of local strength.

Previously (September 8), Vice Chairwoman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich had a meeting with Mr. Kato Hirosuke - Chairman of the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Osaka. Here, the provincial leaders shared about the potential and strengths of Gia Lai, especially projects calling for investment in the fields of high-tech agriculture, processing industry and tourism. At the same time, they expressed their hope that the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association would become an active bridge, bringing the image of Gia Lai closer to Japanese enterprises.
