After the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnam U22 team will participate in the Panda Cup 2023 International Friendly Tournament in China next June. This will be an opportunity for coach Philippe Troussier's young players to compete, learn and gain experience.

After winning the bronze medal in men's football at the 32nd SEA Games, the U22 Vietnam players returned to their home clubs, ready to compete in the V-League and the 2023 National First Division. Before temporarily saying goodbye, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Anh Tu encouraged the players to continue to try to train, compete for opportunities to play in professional tournaments, and be ready to regroup with new tasks, the most recent of which is the 2023 Panda Cup and the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers.

The Panda Cup is an annual tournament organized by the Chinese Football Association since 2014. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the tournament was interrupted for two years. The 2023 Panda Cup will gather quality teams including host U22 China, U22 Uzbekistan, U22 Bahrain and U22 Vietnam. According to the format, the teams will compete in a round robin to calculate rankings and find the champion.
