U22 Vietnam reduces training list to 28 players before Southeast Asian tournament

VHO - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that coach Kim Sang-sik has decided to reduce the list of the Vietnam U22 team to 28 players during the training trip in Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the first step in adjusting the team's strength before the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Accordingly, after a period of professional evaluation through training sessions and two internal practice matches, the coaching staff decided to say goodbye to 8 players, including: Nguyen Quang Vinh (SLNA), Nguyen Dang Duong (The Cong Viettel ), Le Dinh Long Vu (SLNA), Dinh Xuan Tien (SLNA), Nguyen Le Phat (PVF), Le Van Thuan (Thanh Hoa), Nguyen Bao Long (PVF), Dinh Quang Kiet (HAGL).

The above group of 8 players has returned to their home clubs to prepare for the new season, while waiting for the opportunity to participate in the next training sessions, towards the 2026 U23 Asian Qualifiers as well as the 33rd SEA Games.

Previously, on the first day of the meeting, U22 Vietnam had a personnel addition when midfielder Nguyen Quoc Viet (Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club) was called up, bringing the total number of players on the list to 36.

According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will continue to practice in Ho Chi Minh City until July 12 before going to Indonesia on the morning of July 14, officially entering the journey to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Before leaving, coach Kim Sang-sik will announce the official list of 23 players, and the team will use the name U23 Vietnam to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

This tournament will take place from July 15 to 29. In the group stage, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Laos on July 19 and U23 Cambodia on July 22.

With two consecutive championships in 2022 and 2023, U23 Vietnam is expected to continue to successfully defend the title in the regional arena.
