The Vietnamese women's team is in Group C with the host team Uzbekistan, India and Japan. Of these, Japan is a strong team so it is difficult for them to miss out on the top spot.
The realistic goal for the Vietnamese women's team is to finish second with the best result. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team have to compete with Uzbekistan, while India is considered to be the underdog.
The Vietnam Football Federation does not place much emphasis on achievements. However, coach Mai Duc Chung and his players are determined as this is likely to be the last tournament for the 1951-born coach.
