On the morning of September 25, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism solemnly held the 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress in Hanoi.
According to the decision of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed on January 24, 2025, Coach Mai Duc Chung was honored to be awarded the title "Hero of Labor" for his outstanding achievements in creative labor, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Therefore, at the Patriotic Emulation Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung awarded the title "Hero of Labor" to coach Mai Duc Chung.
President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan was also present at the congress to congratulate coach Mai Duc Chung.
Sharing his feelings at the congress, Coach Mai Duc Chung expressed: "Today is a great day for me. In my life, I never dared to think that I would receive the most noble achievement of the country for myself. Really touching!
I am very grateful to the Party, the Government, the agencies, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Football Federation, and all football fans at home and abroad.
And especially the Vietnamese women's football team has supported me a lot in the past time to have the achievements like today."

Coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that this honor will be the motivation for him to continue to strive and contribute to Vietnamese football.
"With everything I have, I always remind myself to be more positive, to do my best to achieve more with the team members, to be worthy of this title," he said.
Coach Mai Duc Chung is a veteran coach with achievements with the Vietnamese women's team winning 6/8 SEA Games gold medals, winning the 2019 AFF Women's Cup, placing fourth in the 2014 ASIAD, placing fifth in the 2022 Women's Asian Cup, and winning the first ticket to the 2023 Women's World Cup.
Previously, Coach Mai Duc Chung was also successful with men's football when he coached the Vietnamese national team (as interim manager) through a difficult period, helped the Vietnamese Olympic team win the Merdeka Cup 2008, and helped B.Binh Duong Club reach the semi-finals of the AFC Cup 2009.
In 2025, Mr. Mai Duc Chung and the Vietnamese women's team passed the 2026 Asian Cup Women's qualifying round and won a ticket to the final round, winning the bronze medal of the ASEAN Women's Cup. He will soon join the women's team to conquer the gold medal of the 33rd SEA Games in December in Thailand.
