Hanoi: Five famous private schools in Hanoi all organize aptitude tests to select about 2,000 students to enter grade 6.

Students who pass this round will take an assessment test in April and May in three subjects: Math, Literature, and Foreign Language.

Admission score is the score of three subjects plus priority and incentive points (for Doan Thi Diem primary school students or those with city, national, international awards in grades 4 and 5).

Archimedes Academy Secondary School has opened registration for 6th grade with standard and advanced classes. Students are selected by entrance exams in Math, Literature, and English. If they want to enter advanced classes, they will take additional exams in Math, Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Physics) and English.

The school holds the exam in March.

Similarly, Hanoi Star Primary and Secondary School organized an exam in March to recruit students for 6 6th grade classes, each class has 34 students.

The school said it will directly admit students with gold medals and first prizes at city and national levels in Math, Science, English, Arts and Sports .

In the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi will have more than 246,000 students entering grade 6, an increase of 58,000 students compared to this year. The capital's education sector estimates that this increase in students corresponds to 30-40 schools. However, building new schools is facing many difficulties.

Therefore, many parents wish to send their children to private schools. In the 2023-2024 school year, Hanoi will have more than 330,000 private school students, an increase of 20,000 compared to last year.

For public schools, the enrollment schedule for the first level (5-year-olds, first grade, sixth grade) usually begins on July 1. The city still applies the principle of enrollment by region, meaning students from which ward or commune will be assigned to schools in that area.
