According to the latest report of Quang Binh province, by 6am on October 28, there was heavy rain in the province, in some places up to more than 500mm. Heavy rain, water in rivers rose rapidly causing more than 15,000 houses to be submerged in water.

Le Thuy district is the most flooded locality with 10,636 houses, Quang Ninh district has more than 4,000 houses and Dong Hoi city has 370 houses deeply submerged in floodwater.

In addition, floodwaters also submerged 374 hectares of crops and vegetables, damaging 100 hectares of fish and rice farming areas.

To cope with the flooding, local authorities in Le Thuy, Quang Ninh and Bo Trach districts have evacuated more than 150 households with nearly 600 people to safety. In addition, in low-lying communes and towns, households have evacuated from low-rise houses to solid, high-rise buildings.

Currently, many culverts on Highways 9B, 9C, and 15 are deeply flooded, with some spots being over 1 meter deep. In addition, some spots are partially flooded, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

Units have assigned guards to warn people not to go through dangerous areas.

The rain and floods also caused landslides in some areas such as the coastal area of ​​Thanh Xuan village, Thanh Trach commune, about 1.5km long and 2-3m deep.

At Km77+580, Highway 9B has a negative slope collapse, about 15m long. The management unit has barricaded to ensure traffic and is continuing to monitor and handle the situation.

Currently, Quang Binh province has directed local units to mobilize on-site forces to promptly evacuate and rescue people in flooded and isolated areas, in order to minimize human and property damage caused by floods.
