The reason why 'Southern Forest Land' was not nominated for the Green Star Award

Despite its high sales, "Southern Forest Land" is still absent from the Green Star Award nominations in the film category.

The 10th Green Star Awards has just announced nominations in 3 award categories including Cinema, Television and Web drama.

The organizers said that this year's awards have innovations in the structure of categories. Specifically, the 10th awards will continue to honor 27 awards in 3 categories including cinema (10 awards), television (11 awards) and online film (6 awards).

This year there will be no companion category and 2 more awards for audience votes in the Web drama category.

This year's jury includes journalist Dinh Trong Tuan, People's Artist - Director Dao Ba Son, Meritorious Artist - Director Le Hoang, People's Artist Kim Xuan, screenwriter Chau Tho, Meritorious Artist - Director Do Duc Thinh, and Critic - Screenwriter Doan Minh Tuan.

Some of the names competing in this season include veteran artists such as Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, People's Artist Kim Xuan, People's Artist Hong Van, "box office king" Thai Hoa, Viet Huong, Hong Dao, Truong Giang, Minh Hang, Kaity Nguyen... to a group of promising young faces newly appearing on the screen such as rapper HIEUTHUHAI, Miss Tieu Vy...

Miss Tieu Vy was nominated for "Best Actress" in the Web drama category.

In the film category, " Dat Rung Phuong Nam" attracted attention when it was absent from all award nominations. Responding to this, journalist Dinh Trong Tuan - Chairman of the Art Council affirmed that "Dat Rung Phuong Nam" has had many problems in the past time.

"I, People's Artist Dao Ba Son and Director Le Hoang also attended the Film Festival in Da Lat. "Dat Rung Phuong Nam" also competed for the Lotus Award at this Film Festival. During the judging period, the film also received many mixed opinions.

Of course, with the Green Star Council, it's not a problem, but with Mr. Trinh Hoan (producer of "Southern Forest Land"), director Nguyen Quang Dung is also my friend and brother.

According to your wishes, we did not nominate "Dat Rung Phuong Nam" for this award. If we nominated the film again, it would be another battle that would continue to make you guys tired," he shared.

When asked about not expanding the nominations in the TV series category, journalist Dinh Trong Tuan said: "We are open to all TV stations and films. However, we cannot decide whether or not they accept the invitation. VTV also has its own awards, so it may be reluctant to compete because it wants to monopolize its awards.

TV series nominated for the Green Star Awards are all invited and the decision is up to the production unit.

The Green Star is one of the prestigious annual awards in cinema and television in Vietnam. 2023 marks an important turning point for this award when it reaches the 10th level, completing a decade of honoring typical artistic values that have made positive contributions to the country's film industry as well as helping to bridge the names of Vietnamese artists to the international level.

The 2023 Green Star Awards Night will take place at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024 at Hoa Binh Theater, Ho Chi Minh City.
