Dismissal of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment

With the majority of delegates in agreement, the National Assembly passed a Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss comrade Tran Hong Ha from the position of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the 2021-2026 term.

On the afternoon of May 22, the National Assembly conducted the process of approving the dismissal of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha from the position of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the 2021-2026 term.

The title of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment is held by comrade Tran Hong Ha after he was approved for appointment as Deputy Prime Minister at the second extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly.

At the meeting, after a secret ballot, the National Assembly voted to pass a Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss comrade Tran Hong Ha from the position of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the 2021-2026 term. The Resolution was passed with 466/469 delegates voting in favor (accounting for 94.33% of the total number of delegates).

This Resolution takes effect from the date the National Assembly votes to pass it.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha was born in 1963, hometown: Kim Loc Commune, Can Loc District, Ha Tinh Province; academic degree: PhD, political theory level: Advanced.

He is an alternate member of the 11th Party Central Committee; a member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee; and a delegate of the 14th National Assembly.

Comrade Tran Hong Ha has held many positions in the natural resources and environment sector such as Deputy Director of the Department of Environment; Director of the Department of Environmental Protection; Deputy Director General in charge of the General Department of Environment; Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, then held the position of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment in April 2016.

It is expected that this afternoon, the National Assembly will conduct the approval process for the appointment of the position of Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the 2021-2026 term.
