Rally in response to "Month of action against drugs and National Day of drug prevention and control" in 2023

On June 26, in Ninh Phuoc district, the Provincial Steering Committee for Crime Prevention and Control, Social Evils and Building a Movement for the Whole People to Protect National Security (Provincial Steering Committee) held a rally to respond to the "Month of Action for Drug Prevention and Control and National Day for Drug Prevention and Control" in 2023.

Attending the event were comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Crime Prevention and Control, Social Evils and Building a Movement for the Whole People to Protect National Security of the Province, along with members of the Provincial and District Steering Committees, and officials and people of Ninh Phuoc District.

In recent times, drug prevention and control work in the province has achieved important results, awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, political systems and people for drug prevention and control work have been raised. From 2022 to the first 6 months of 2023, the whole province has detected and arrested 204 cases/336 subjects of drug crimes; seized evidence includes: 587g of synthetic drugs, 111g of Heroine, 221g of marijuana and 2 cars, 78 motorbikes, 142 mobile phones, nearly 100 million VND and many other related objects and documents. 196 cases/307 defendants have been prosecuted; 104 subjects have been sent to compulsory drug rehabilitation facilities.

However, the situation of crime and drug abuse in the province is still complicated. The use of synthetic drugs among young people is still high; drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation support face many difficulties. Currently, the whole province has 1,296 drug-related subjects with management records in 52/65 communes, wards and towns, of which 504 are addicts and 792 are users. Ninh Phuoc district alone has 311 subjects, accounting for 24%.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the implementation of the "Month of Action on Drug Prevention and Control in 2023", the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that in 2023, with the theme "Resolutely and effectively preventing and combating drugs, enhancing responsibility, proactively coordinating - For a drug-free community", he requested provincial-level Departments, branches, sectors, organizations, Party committees and local authorities to identify drug prevention and control as one of the key tasks, both urgent, regular and long-term, requiring perseverance and persistence of the entire political system; carry out prevention work well, identifying this as a strategic, long-term solution, focusing on prevention right from the family, school, neighborhood group, residential area, etc. Launch a movement for the whole population to participate in drug prevention and control, raising the spirit of vigilance to detect and denounce crimes, illegal drug buying, selling, organizing and using spots; Closely coordinate in the work of compiling records to send drug addicts to compulsory drug rehabilitation. Effectively organize drug rehabilitation at home and in the community according to regulations. Carry out post-rehabilitation management well, ensuring that 100% of drug addicts who have been rehabilitated at the facility and returned to the community are managed at their place of residence, promote vocational training support, create jobs for post-rehabilitation drug addicts to stabilize their lives, and minimize the rate of relapse.

Next, the representative of the Steering Committee for crime prevention, social evils and building a movement for the entire people to protect national security in Phuoc Dan town also spoke in response, expressing the determination to implement the "Month of action to prevent and combat drugs and the National Day for drug prevention and combat" in 2023.

After the ceremony, the Youth Union members, youth, police force and representatives of cadres and people of Ninh Phuoc district marched and demonstrated their strength on the main roads of Ninh Phuoc district. Thereby, it aimed to raise awareness and responsibility of sectors, levels and classes of people on drug prevention and control and the harmful effects of drug abuse; gradually repel and eliminate drug abuse from social life, create a healthy environment, serve socio-economic development, ensure security and order and social safety.
