A gamer spends 300 hours hunting for 'POIs'

One player   Starfield veteran just shared on social media some images of what he suspects are the rarest Points of Interest (POIs) in the game.

While the terrain of Starfield's thousands of planets is the same for players, most of the celestial bodies in the game have procedurally generated POIs that change with each login. On launch day, Starfield had a few dozen different POIs that were shared online, as Todd Howard, Executive Producer and Director of Bethesda Game Studio, explained.

The red circled location is believed to be an abandoned laboratory in the Starfield world .

While most players spent a lot of time in Starfield during its final season, not everyone managed to "catch" the POI in the game, not to mention one particularly rare POI. The POI in question was shared by Reddit user "SykoManiax", who explained that it took 300 hours of gameplay to discover it. "SykoManiax" also explained that the reason this POI is considered "rare" is because it takes the form of a deserted research facility, where scientists were apparently experimenting with growing plants in a zero-gravity environment before it was wiped out.

Hundreds of players agreed with SykoManiax's assessment of the "rarity" of this POI over the weekend, saying that this important abandoned laboratory is the most unique feature of Starfield to date. Dozens of other players also shared that they still see other POIs after spending hundreds of hours exploring The Settled Systems, while also saying that it's too early to tell whether this particular POI is Starfield 's rarest yet.

The final result will likely come in a few months after Bethesda releases Starfield 's "Creation Kit." In addition to supporting community content development, Starfield's official modding tools will allow players to freely explore the game's existing files and lead to the discovery of POI rarity charts. While publisher Bethesda has yet to commit to a specific date for the "Creation Kit," it has confirmed that it is looking to finalize the functionality and launch it in early 2024.
