Promoting digital transformation in new rural construction

On October 3, in Bac Lieu ward, the Institute for Cooperative Economic Development (Vietnam Cooperative Alliance) coordinated with the Cooperative Alliance of Ca Mau province to organize a conference to deploy the digital transformation program in new rural construction, with the participation of more than 120 delegates who are leaders and members of cooperatives in the province.

At the conference, delegates discussed and analyzed the advantages and difficulties in applying digital transformation, pointing out the shortcomings in technology infrastructure, people's awareness and inadequate investment resources.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Deputy Director in charge of the Institute for Cooperative Economic Development, emphasized: To promote digital transformation in new rural construction, the first important thing is to change the awareness and actions of relevant parties.

In response to the need to develop rural areas in a modern and civilized manner, delegates emphasized the role and importance of digital transformation in building new rural areas in Ca Mau . To promote digital transformation in rural areas to bring about efficiency and effectiveness, delegates said that it is necessary to synchronously deploy solutions on technology development and digital infrastructure; pay more attention to human resource development; create conditions for farmers to access credit policies on digital transformation in agricultural production .

Dr. Ngo Duc Luu, Chairman of the Council of Bac Lieu University, proposed that there should be mechanisms and policies that are strong enough to create motivation to encourage farmers to actively participate in the digital transformation process.

Hong Phat Cooperative (Vinh Thanh commune) applies water management software in rice production towards low emissions.

Delegates recommended that the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance research and deploy support for models and projects on green economic development and circular economy adapting to climate change; support training on improving digital transformation capacity for management staff, cooperatives and farmers in the province to meet the requirements of building smart new rural areas.
