In recent days, Thanh Hoa has had widespread heavy rains that have caused landslides, affecting the houses of dozens of households in communes and towns in Thach Thanh district. Authorities had to urgently evacuate 44 households to avoid landslides.

In recent days, Thanh Hoa has had widespread heavy rains causing landslides, affecting the houses of dozens of households in communes and towns in Thach Thanh district.

In Chinh Thanh village, Thanh Truc commune, Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province, a landslide appeared with a length of more than 100m, directly affecting 25 houses and 70 people.

Also in Lam Thanh quarter, Kim Tan town, Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province, there are 3 landslides, about 200 meters long, directly affecting 15 households.

In addition, in Thach Tuong commune of Thach Thanh district, a landslide also appeared, affecting 4 households.

Faced with the above situation, on the evening of September 22, leaders of Thach Thanh district directly went to the scene to inspect and direct the functional forces of the district and communes and towns to urgently evacuate people to safe places.

Mobilizing local police and military forces to put up danger warning signs, stretch ropes, cordon off areas and assign forces to be on duty 24/7 to prevent people from approaching areas with landslides and landslide risks to ensure safety. The district Fatherland Front Committee coordinated with localities to visit and encourage households to move their houses to safe places and provide initial emergency support of 1 million VND per household.

Mr. Do Viet Thinh (41 years old) in Chinh Thanh, Thanh Truc commune, Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province said: "Due to the prolonged heavy rain, the hill has collapsed and large cracks have appeared, so we have had to temporarily evacuate to a safe place."

According to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thach Thanh district, in the past few days, the district has been continuously experiencing heavy rain. The average rainfall measured from September 20 to 7:00 a.m. on September 23 was 210.4 mm.

Along with the amount of water flowing from upstream, the water level of the Buoi River has risen. The water level at Kim Tan Hydrological Station at 9am this morning was 11.51m (0.51m above alert level II) and is continuing to rise. The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Thach Thanh District continues to be on duty 24/24, ready to respond to any situation that may arise.
