Mr. Hoang Van Nam, whose house is right on the front of Highway 55, passing through the center of Village 2, Son My New Rural Commune, Ham Tan District, reported: “A LED lamp post located right on Highway 55, passing through the center of Village 2, about 500m from the People's Committee of Son My New Rural Commune, has been out of operation for two Lunar New Year holidays, and is not safe for traffic on this section. We have made recommendations through voter meetings, but it has not been repaired yet.”

This is the central area of Son My commune, with a dense population living on both sides of the road; while the section passing through here is steep, the roadbed is narrow, there are many North-South passenger buses, trucks, and motorbikes in the province circulating, which is very worrying for vehicles participating in traffic, especially at night. Also on this section, there have been a number of serious traffic accidents involving people from other provinces riding motorbikes through the narrow roadbed area at night with lack of light. Local people passing through this area at night are also very worried because there are quite a lot of vehicles circulating. Although the section passing through this area also has a number of small solar-powered lamp posts, they do not ensure traffic safety at night. Many local people have requested that the local authorities soon check and replace the damaged streetlights above, ensuring street lighting.

The lamppost is not lit on National Highway 55 through village 2, about 500m from Son My Commune People's Committee.

Meanwhile, the national highway 55 through the three communes: Son My, Tan Thang, Thang Hai currently has an unsynchronized street lighting system, some sections still lack street lights at night. Currently, the three communes above have been merged into the new Son My commune, preparing to come into operation from the beginning of July 2025. The new Son My commune needs to focus on investing in a synchronous lighting system on the national highway 55, which is more than 20 km long through this new commune, so that the street lights shine every night, ensuring security, order and traffic safety on this vital road section.

Previously, Ham Tan District People's Committee invested in installing a lighting system on National Highway 55 but still did not "light up" the entire National Highway 55 through the new Son My commune after the merger.
