Allocate 25.8 billion VND to repair National Highway 55 through Lam Dong

According to the Ministry of Transport , the flooded location as reflected by voters of Lam Dong province is the S'RTrang spillway across the stream at Km214+592 of National Highway 55 (QL55) located at a concave curve, the spillway surface is 7m wide, the cement concrete structure (BTXM) has been paved with 7cm thick asphalt concrete; the section across the spillway has 12 marker posts and 2 hydraulic posts.

Every year, the road is flooded 1-2 times with a depth of about 0.5m (sometimes it is 1.0m) for about 2 hours.

To improve traffic safety, the Ministry of Transport has approved the 2024 road system maintenance plan with a list of works: Repairing roadbeds, road surfaces, reinforcing curbs and drainage systems for the above section with a budget of 25.8 billion VND.

Currently, Lam Dong Department of Transport and Vietnam Road Administration are implementing investment preparation procedures, selecting construction contractors and will complete this project in 2024.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Transport requested the National Assembly delegation of Lam Dong province to consult with the People's Committee of Lam Dong province to direct the Department of Transport, within its authority, to coordinate with localities to organize dredging and clearing the streambed to ensure drainage outside the management area of National Highway 55, reducing the time for water to flood over the spillway.

"Regarding the investment in construction and replacement of the spillway into a reinforced concrete bridge, according to regulations, the road career fund should not be used for new investment, but it is necessary to consider reporting to the competent authority for approval of construction investment using medium-term public investment sources in the overall upgrade of National Highway 55 in the next medium-term investment period," the Ministry of Transport added.
